THE WORKING DOG CHALLENGE- TRIAL AND AUCTION
3 DAYS.
ANTICIPATION is already building for the 2025 WDC which will go over the course of 3 days. Kicking off on Friday the 28th and finishing with the Auction on Sunday the 30th of November.
Over the 3 days there will be both sheep and cattle trials, trial shootouts, a calcutta and working dog auction!
TRIAL.
The WDC is proud to run both Sheep yard trials and cattle trials over the course of the weekend. Our trials are affiliated with the New South Wales Yard Dog Association.
This year the sheep yard trial will consist of a Maiden trial, Novice trial and Open trial as well as the invitational “Sire Shootout” trial to be held on the Friday night under lights.
The cattle trial will consist of 2 classes, a Cow dog challenge and Open cattle trial.
AUCTION.
Our inaugural Working Dog Challenge Auction exceeded a gross of $345,000. An outstanding lineup of 57 working dogs were on offer at the WDC 2021 auction with buyer demand from all states driving prices to $24,000 and a sale average of $7,422.
In 2022 we saw another successful sale with an increased average of $7,770 for 49 dogs sold. Lot 29 “Barru Lizzy” topped the sale at $22,500 with Lot 39 “Lewis Plonkie” a standout at $17,000. Another sale which saw dogs sell to all over the country with a couple of lots selling to Tasmania!
2023 saw a strong result with Lot 2 “Karana Spud” topping the sale at $14,000. Lot 23 “Huntleigh Tiger” at only 6 months of aged sold for a whopping $4,800. Good buyer competition was once again evident with the sale averaging $5747.
